The voice was strong for her face to have taken a position
before the likes of Tiwa Savage arrived in the scene. No thanks to P.square who
for reasons best known to them denied her the opportunity of representing her
voice with her face in the hit song, do me. Waje’s voice was heard on do me, as
far as P. Square music works are concerned, and yet, there was never a time
she (Waje) was projected either by mentioning her name, writing or getting her
face to feature in the video for do me, at least. Waje was also the voice
behind the omoge mi reply.
This leave one wondering what might have gone down between
the twin stars and the Enugu discovery. Couldn’t a sister be helped to boost
her career, or was she considered better at the background, a face behind a
voice. Honestly, when do me video dropped without her, Waje’s face, so many thoughts lingered in the
mind of many, which include, is the lady that ugly? But when the face finally
started surfacing on her own videos, it was obvious that there was not
justifiable reason as she is ugly, because babe rocks.
In her quest to take her destiny in her hands, she launched
her presence formally as Waje with a song, kolo. Ever since then, she has not
looked back. Even though the music industry is not a play ground, Waje has
managed to prove that she is not here to play either by releasing another
single, so inspired, which featured a fellow female artist, Muna. The two
singles boasts of a video to back up her push.
It may be a bit surprising that up till now, that P. Square has not in
any way identified with her in still or motion images. Or maybe I have not seen
any as at the time of writing this column. Nonetheless, Waje has been getting collaboration
and support from other top Nigerian artists like Dj Zeez, Omawumi, MI and the
choc boiz, as well as DJs.
No doubt, Waje is a diva to reckon with, a voice that cannot
be ignored. She is still on it with a brand new singles, and now, she is saying
“I wish” hot. Watch out for her album.
